The airport has been allowing the team fighting the Cave Creek Complex fires to use their facilities as the helibase for the fire. The Cave Creek Complex fire was the third largest wildfire in the state of Arizona to date, after the Rodeo-Chediski fire and Wallow Fire. The Royal Thai Army hosted a "Children's Day" event at the 2nd Cavalry King's Guard Division base in Bangkok. Children had an opportunity to look at military weapons, climb around on tanks, artillery pieces and helicopters and look at battlefield medical facilities. The Children's Day fair comes amidst political strife and concerns of a possible coup in Thailand. Tens of thousands of Thai anti-government protestors took to the streets of Bangkok Monday to shut down the Thai capitol. The protest was called "Shutdown Bangkok" and is expected to last at least a week. The Shutdown Bangkok protest is a continuation of protests that started in early November. There have been shootings almost every night at different protests sites around Bangkok, including two Sunday night, but the protests Monday were peaceful. The malls in Bangkok stayed open Monday but many other businesses closed for the day and mass transit was swamped with both protestors and people who had to use mass transit because the roads were blocked.   • 26 JUNE 2005 - CAVE CREEK, AZ: Members of the Horseshoe Meadow Hotshots, from the Sequoia National Forest in California, walk back to their vehicles after getting off a Bell Super 205 helicopter at the Skyranch at Carefree, a private airport in Carefree, after returning from the Cave Creek Complex fire line Sunday afternoon. The airport has been allowing the team fighting the Cave Creek Complex fires to use their facilities as the helibase for the fire. The Cave Creek Complex fire was the third largest wildfire in the state of Arizona to date, after the Rodeo-Chediski fire and Wallow Fire.   • 24 JANUARY 2010 -- WENDEN, AZ:  Paramedics hustle a patient complaining of a chess pains to a waiting medevac helicopter in Salome. The patient was one of hundreds of people who fled flood waters in Wenden. Wenden was slammed by its second 100 year flood in 10 years on Thursday night when water raced through Centennial Wash and into the small town in La Paz County west of Phoenix. Chamberlain, a platoon commander in D Company, commanded the rescue of US Senators Chuck Hagel, John Kerry and Joe Lieberman after their helicopter made a hard landing on a mountain top during a blizzard in Afghanistan in February 2007. About 250 members of the Arizona Army National Guard's 158th Infantry Battalion returned to Phoenix, AZ, from a year long deployment in Afghanistan Sunday. The unit, also known as the "Bushmasters" from their service in World War II, was part of the largest single-unit deployment of the Arizona National Guard since the second World War. Two members of the battalion were killed in action during their deployment. The battalion, a combat unit, engaged in counter insurgency operations through out their deployment. The Minuteman Project is a volunteer effort to deter illegal immigrants from entering the US without documentation. The Minuteman volunteers call the Border Patrol when they see undocumented immigrants entering the US. Organizers claim to have thousands of volunteers signing up for the effort and they claim to reduced illegal immigration through their area by almost 100 percent and are preparing plans to extend their program to Texas, New Mexico and California. Children had an opportunity to look at military weapons, climb around on tanks, artillery pieces and helicopters and look at battlefield medical facilities. The Children's Day fair comes amidst political strife and concerns of a possible coup in Thailand. Earlier in the week, the Thai army announced that movements of armored vehicles through Bangkok were not in preparation of a coup, but were moving equipment into position for Children's Day.
