  • 08 FEBRUARY 2017 - BANGKOK, THAILAND: A woman folds her children's laundry in her home in Pom Mahakan. More than 40 families still live in Pom Mahakan, a slum community in a 19th century fort in Bangkok. City officials are trying to move them out of the fort but members of the community refuse to leave. NGOs and historic preservation organizations are working with the community to help them find a way to stay. After several deadlines passed, residents were told that they have to leave by the end of February. They submitted another proposal to the city this week to turn their community into a "living heritage museum" and hope to get the eviction deadline extended until late March.   • 20 MARCH 2017 - BANGKOK, THAILAND: A city worker uses a sledge hammer to break up the floor of what used to be a home in Pom Mahakan. The family who lived there was evicted and the home torn down. The final evictions of the remaining families in Pom Mahakan, a slum community in a 19th century fort in Bangkok, have started. City officials are moving the residents out of the fort. NGOs and historic preservation organizations protested the city's action but city officials did not relent and started evicting the remaining families in early March. Bakkwa is made with a meat preservation and preparation technique originating from China.  Macau, also spelled Macao, is one of the two special administrative regions of the People's Republic of China (PRC), the other being Hong Kong. Macau lies on the western side of the Pearl River Delta across from Hong Kong to the east, bordered by Guangdong province to the north and facing the South China Sea to the east and south.
