The porters bring customers' purchase to waiting taxis because the alleys of the market are too narrow for cars. Khlong Toey Market is the largest market in Bangkok. Vendors sell everything from meat and fish to fruit and vegetables. They also sell clothes and dry goods in the market. Khlong Toey (also called Khlong Toei) Market is one of the largest "wet markets" in Thailand. The market is located in the midst of one of Bangkok's largest slum areas and close to the city's original deep water port. Thousands of people live in the neighboring slum area. The rice was donated to the shrine for Ghost Month and will eventually be handed out to poor people in the community. The seventh month of the Chinese Lunar calendar is called "Ghost Month" during which ghosts and spirits, including those of the deceased ancestors, come out from the lower realm. Four trains each day make the round trip from Baan Laem, near Samut Sakhon, to Samut Songkhram, the train chugs through market eight times a day (coming and going). Each time market vendors pick up their merchandise and clear the track for the train, only to set up again when the train passes. The market on the train tracks has become a tourist attraction in this part of Thailand and many tourists stop to see the train on their way to or from the floating market in Damnoen Saduak. Some estimates suggest that up to 30% of the Buddhist population has left Narathiwat in the face of violence by Muslim extremists. More than 5,000 people have been killed and over 9,000 hurt in more than 11,000 incidents, or about 3.5 a day, in Thailand's three southernmost provinces and four districts of Songkhla since the insurgent violence erupted in January 2004, according to Deep South Watch, an independent research organization that monitors violence in Thailand's deep south region that borders Malaysia. The market is warren of narrow halls and alleys and steep staircases and still relies on manual labor to move goods. Binh Tay market is the largest market in Ho Chi Minh City and is the central market of Cholon. Cholon is the Chinese-influenced section of Ho Chi Minh City (former Saigon). It is the largest "Chinatown" in Vietnam. Cholon consists of the western half of District 5 as well as several adjoining neighborhoods in District 6. The Vietnamese name Cholon literally means "big" (lon) "market" (cho). Incorporated in 1879 as a city 11 km from central Saigon. By the 1930s, it had expanded to the city limit of Saigon. On April 27, 1931, French colonial authorities merged the two cities to form Saigon-Cholon. In 1956, "Cholon" was dropped from the name and the city became known as Saigon. Hua Lamphong Grand Central Railway Station, officially known as the Bangkok Grand Central Terminal Railway Station, is the main railway station in Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in the center of the city in Pathum Wan District, and is operated by the State Railway of Thailand. The station was opened on 25 June 1916, after six years' construction. The station was built in an Italian Neo-Renaissance style, with decorated wooden roofs and stained glass windows. The architecture is attributed to Turin-born Mario Tamagno, who, with countryman Annibale Rigotti made a mark on early 20th century public building in Bangkok. The pair also designed Bang Khun Prom Palace (1906), Ananda Samakhom Throne Hall in The Royal Plaza (1907-15) and Suan Kularb Residential Hall and Throne Hall in Dusit Garden, among other buildings..There are 14 platforms and 26 ticket booths. Hua Lamphong serves over 130 trains and approximately 60,000 passengers each day.
