TalatNoi

27 APRIL 2013 - BANGKOK, THAILAND: A Thai-Chinese woman walks down a narrow soi (alley or small street) in Talat Noi. The Talat Noi neighborhood in Bangkok started as a blacksmith's quarter. As cars and buses replaced horse and buggy, the blacksmiths became mechanics and now the area is lined with car mechanics' shops. It is one the last neighborhoods in Bangkok that still has some original shophouses and pre World War II architecture. It is also home to a Teo Chew Chinese emigrant community. PHOTO BY JACK KURTZ
